Having garments custom made provides you with the absolutely best fit possible for your figure.

Doozie provides custom made clothing for women and youth only. Reasons that people select the custom made option are a) the desire for a perfect fit, b) the desire for a completely unique design, or c) the need for a specific item for a specific event, such as a bridesmaid gown. Clients should expect that the cost of custom construction will far exceed the cost of ready-to-wear garments.

Clients selecting the custom made option should allow for an extended process time with a number of fittings at the studio. At Doozie, custom garments will only be made for persons able to be fit in person throughout the design and construction phase. The compete process includes 1) an initial consultation to discuss the design and to take an extensive set of personal body measurements; 2) frequently, the selection of a commercially-made paper pattern from which to begin the process (although fabric draping directly on the client is sometimes an option); 3) adjustment of the paper pattern to allow for design and fit differences; 4) the construction of the garment in muslin to allow for personal fitting and design adjustments; 5) further pattern adjustments as needed; and 6) the construction of the final garment in the fabric of choice.

Some clients request to have an existing garment copied. In our workrooms, this process involves de-constructing the original garment to make an accurate pattern before proceeding to the muslin-fitting phase. You may request that the original item be re-constructed to continue its life.

We are happy to provide only the measurement and fitting selections of our services to those clients who are seamstresses who wish to construct their own clothing.
