Dee DuMont, Designer/Seamstress, has over fifty years experience doing alterations of both men's and women's clothing. A nationally-recognized fitting expert who has written on the topic for THREADS MAGAZINE, Dee will make your clothing look like it was custom made for you. From replacing zippers and linings to doing hems on jeans or gowns, Dee will handle your valuable garments with the utmost care, and return them to you ready to be worn for years.
The garment sewing workroom works by appointment only, so be sure to call Dee at (206) 842-9513 to schedule a special time just for you. Her newly revised workroom hours are generally M-W from 9 AM to 4 PM.
If you are having alterations done on new garments that will be washed during their lifetime with you, please pre-wash and dry them before having them altered. This will ensure that any fabric shrinkage that might occur will happen BEFORE the item is altered.
Used garments should always be cleaned prior to being altered.
If you wear a variety of shoe heights, please arrive for your fitting with the shoes that you expect to wear with the garment being hemmed so we will know how tall you will be. If gentlemen are being fitted in dress slacks, it is important that they bring dress shoes and a belt to the fitting.
If alterations are needed in a bodice or a dress, please be sure that you wear the foundation garment that you expect to wear under the item being altered. The style and fit of the bra can greatly impact the fit of the garment.
Our alteration workroom can be a very busy place. Please allow at least one week for your project to be completed. We always strive to meet our client's last-minute deadlines, so you are welcome to request a quick-turn-around alteration with the understanding that there will be a surcharge added to the cost of the alteration.
